2. They're Playing Our Song Sometimes love takes a while to work. This can be especially true when the lovers are artistic types who are already on the neurotic side.

Lansing Community College’s Performing Arts department is putting on the 1978 musical “They’re Playing Our Song” from March 20 to March 28 in the LCC Black Box Theatre.

It’s a small musical, as musicals go, focusing on two people, Vernon, a composer, and Sonia, a lyricist. They’re each joined by three alter egos who try to help make things work.

The story is autobiographical in nature with book-writer Neil Simon telling the story of composer Marvin Hamlisch and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager.

3.  Michigan Fiddlers at the Fiddle, Friday, March 27 

Michigan is stocked with gifted fiddlers, and the Ten Pound Fiddle is the place to see them live. Performing at the “Michigan Fiddlers” concert are Peter Knupfer, Brian Bishop, Linnea Jimison and Marty Somberg. In the first set, each fiddler will perform a couple of tunes with help from back-up players. The second half will feature all four fiddlers at once, playing in a round-robin format. Knupfer is a member of the bluegrass band Detour and teaches U.S. history at Michigan State University. For 30 years, he’s kept busy playing folk, swing and jazz fiddle. Meanwhile, Jimison was fiddler/vocalist in defunct local folk group the Bard Owls. Her set is inspired by American, Canadian, and Irish folk music. On the side, she also performs as a duo with mandolin and bouzouki player Chris Foster.

 2.  DOGFIGHT AT PEPPERMINT CREEK THEATRE March 19 - 22 & 26 - 29, 2015
The hauntingly beautiful musical Dogfight by Pasek and Paul (EDGES, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, A CHRISTMAS STORY), was praised by countless critics and nominated for nearly every award available including winning the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical. Based on the 1991 Warner Brothers film,Dogfight takes audiences on a romantic and heartbreaking theatrical journey.  It's November 21, 1963. On the eve of their deployment to a small but growing conflict in Southeast Asia, three young Marines set out for one final boys' night of debauchery, partying and maybe a little trouble.
